The cross-border configuration of the cholera basin requires a strong collaboration between countries in terms of surveillance, alerts, information sharing, and exchange of experiences. Since the Abuja commitments of 2010, many workshops facilitated by the Regional cholera platform have marked the milestones toward improved cross-border collaborations and commitments to reduce cholera (Maroua, 2011, Dakar 20132, Niamey 2014, Douala 2016). These workshops usually bring together the representatives of the Member States, United Nations agencies (WHO, UNICEF, IOM and OCHA), regional and sub-regional organizations, NGOs and members of civil society, and play a critical role at improving cross-border collaboration, as well as the monitoring of actions considered and commitments made during the previous meetings.
