List of wca hotspots

hotspots Le document Excel ci joint présente la liste des hotspots dans la région de l’Afrique de l’Ouest et Centrale. La surveillance WG a défini en mid-2019 deux critères pour définir les hotspots :

 - L’incidence : The annual cholera incidence in an administrative unit will be calculated by dividing the number of suspected and confirmed cholera cases reported in a given year by the population in the area. Then the mean of the annual incidence for the period will be calculated for each administrative unit (sur une période recommendée de 5 ans mais min 3; max 10)

 -  Persistence: Total number of weeks with reports of suspected cholera cases# divided by total number of weeks in the period of interest (i.e. 260 weeks for a five-year period)

Dans les factsheets de la région publie en 2014, la plateforme cholera a utilisés 3 critères : a) l’incidence : suivant la même définition du surveillance WG. Période d’analyse suivant disponibilité des données par pays. En général au moins 7 ans, parfois plus; b) la Persistence : average outbreak duration and the inter-epidemic period duration; la Recurrence: the number of outbreaks over the study period

The attached Excel document lists the hotspots in the West and Central Africa region. In mid-2019 WG surveillance defined two criteria for defining hotspots:

- The incidence: The annual cholera incidence in an administrative unit will be calculated by dividing the number of suspected and confirmed cholera cases reported by the population in the area. Then the mean of the annual incidence for the period is calculated for each administrative unit (over a recommended period of 5 years but min 3, max 10)

- Persistence: 260 weeks for a five-year period: Total number of weeks

In the factsheets of the region published in 2014, the cholera platform used 3 criteria: a) Incidence: following the same definition of WG surveillance. Analysis period following data availability by country. In general, at least 7 years, sometimes more; b) Persistence: average outbreak duration and inter-epidemic period duration; c) Recurrence: the number of outbreaks over the period
